· Stakeholder Conference, 25-06-2015
· Public consultation, 28-05-2015-20-08-2015
As part of the process to develop a more ambitious Circular Economy package the European Commission organised a Circular economy Conference for stakeholders in Brussel.
The circular economy package will lay out the opportunities for green growth and build on previous EU resource efficiency and innovation initiatives. The conference will support a public consultation that will collect the views of stakeholders on the main policy options and measures explored for this initiative.
Participation in this conference is open to all stakeholders wishing to contribute to shaping European economic policy making.
The conference will consist of an opening plenary (keynote and panel discussion), a series of breakout sessions addressing specific aspects of the circular economy, and a closing panel with institutional representatives.
The conference was opened by Commission First Vice-President Frans Timmermans and closed by Vice-President Jyrki Katainen. It included contributions from the Commissioner for the Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs, Elżbieta Bieńkowska and Commissioner for the Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Karmenu Vella.

EC public consultation – Circular Economy package.
The EC is aiming to present a new, more ambitious circular economy strategy late 2015, to transform Europe in a more competitive resource-efficient economy, addressing a range of economic sectors, including waste. The strategy will be fully aligned with the priorities of the new Commission. It will comprise a revised legislative proposal on waste and a Communication setting out an action plan on the circular economy for the rest of this Commission’s term of office. The action plan will cover the whole value chain, and focus on concrete measures with clear EU added value, aiming at ‘closing the loop’ of the circular economy.
The Commission is engaged in a thorough reflection on how the objective of circular economy can be reached in an efficient way that is fully compatible with the jobs and growth agenda.
