The ISP Virtual Model United Nations Conference (ISP Virtual MUN) is hosted by the International Schools Partnership, an international network of schools located around the world focused on inspiring children to be successful now and equip them to be successful later. To immerse these students in the world of international affairs, ISP Virtual MUN will challenge students to take on the roles of diplomats and work to achieve a consensus on some of the most pressing global issues.
These young leaders are eager to learn from the people who are working in the fields that they have been diligently studying for the past few months. Therefore, to guide their debate and their proposed solutions, ISP Virtual MUN arranges for special guest speakers in each one of the committee simulations to speak to the students about their specific debate topics.
This year, the simulation of the United Nations Environment Assembly will be debating the topic of “The Effects of Hazardous Electronic Waste on the Environment.” EERA is happy to speak (on May 21) to these young leaders about what proper recycling is and what is needed to ensure that all WEEE will be proper recycled in the world. This is a big challenge: WEEE is the fastest growing waste stream: A record of 53,6 Mt of electronic waste was generated worldwide in 2019, which is up 21% in five years.
